Bulls Complete Multi-Player Trade with Saginaw

The Belleville Bulls and Saginaw Spirit completed a five player, two draft pick trade on Sunday.  The Bulls have acquired forward Jan Mursak, defenceman Nigel Williams, and goaltender Parker VanBuskirk from the Spirit.   In return, Belleville sends goaltender Edward Pasquale, forward Brendan Taylor and their third round pick in both the 2008 and 2010 OHL Priority Selection to Saginaw.

Mursak is in his second OHL season after being selected by the Spirit in the first round of the 2006 CHL Import Draft.  He was also taken in the sixth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings.  In 26 games with Saginaw this season, he has scored six times while adding 20 assists.  Last season, Mursak finished fourth in OHL rookie scoring with 27 goals and 80 points in 62 games.  The native of Slovenia also played in seven AHL playoff games with the Grand Rapids Griffins where he recorded two assists following the conclusion of the OHL season.  Mursak is currently representing Slovenia at the World Junior Hockey Championships Division I and will join the Bulls following the holiday break.

Williams is also in his second OHL season after joining the Spirit from the University of Wisconsin partway through last year.  A second round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Williams has scored five times while adding 19 assists and 60 penalty minutes in 29 games with Saginaw this season.  During the 2006-2007 season, Williams led all OHL rookie defencemen with 17 goals while also adding 19 assists and 92 penalty minutes in just 46 games.  The Aurora, Illinois native was also selected as having the second hardest shot in the 2006-2007 Western Conference Coaches Poll.

VanBuskirk is in his third OHL season and joins the Bulls after stints in both Saginaw and Sarnia.  In 10 games this season with the Spirit, he holds a 5-4-0-0 record along with a 3.26 goals against average and .874 save percentage.    Last season while with the Sting, VanBuskirk recorded an impressive 25-13-3-3 record while finishing in the top ten in the league with a 3.29 GAA and .901 SV%.  He also recorded two shutouts.  The native of Windsor, Ontario was selected in the third round of the 2004 OHL Priority Selection by the Mississauga Ice Dogs.

Bulls General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett commented that he was pleased with the acquisition of the trio of highly skilled players and feels that it will help the team solidify their opportunity to compete in the Eastern Conference this season.
