Andy Bathgate Selected at NHL Entry Draft by Pittsburgh

Belleville Bulls forward Andy Bathgate was selected in the fifth round, 151st overall by the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal.  Bathgate becomes the third Bull player ever to be taken by the Penguins at an NHL Entry Draft and first since Richard Park in 1994.   Bathgate’s Grandfather Andy was an original member of the Penguins and led the team in scoring during their inaugural 1967-68 season.

In 44 games played with Belleville this year, Bathgate recorded four goals and 16 points before a shoulder injury ended his season in January.  Bathgate was the Bulls third round pick in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.
