Three Bulls in NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Rankings
Three members of the Belleville Bulls have been listed on NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary list for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Tyler Randell is the 13th ranked OHL skater while Bjorn Krupp and Matt Tipoff are ranked 15th and 21st respectively. This preliminary list is the first set of rankings from NHL Central Scouting for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft with mid-term and final rankings still to be released later this season. The 2009 NHL Entry Draft will be held in June in Montreal.
Randell has enjoyed a strong start to his sophomore season with the Bulls, having already surpassed his rookie goal totals from a year ago. In 24 games played this season, Randell has scored eight times while adding three assists and a team leading 40 penalty minutes. He also leads the Bulls with three game winning goals this season. Randell was Belleville’s first round pick in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.
Krupp is in his rookie campaign in Belleville and despite an early season injury, he has quickly made the adjustment to the OHL after spending last season with the Team USA Under 17 program. In 14 games played with the Bulls, Krupp has recorded one assist and two penalty minutes. Krupp was Belleville’s second round pick in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.
Tipoff is in his third season in Belleville and has enjoyed a breakthrough offensive campaign to date. After recording two goals and 17 points in his first two OHL seasons combined, Tipoff has surpassed those totals already this year. Tipoff currently sits fourth in team scoring with six goals and 19 points in 24 games played this season. He also sits fourth on the team with a +10 rating. Tipoff was selected by Belleville in the second round of the 2006 OHL Priority Selection.
Since 2006, the Bulls have had more players taken in the NHL Entry Draft than any other Canadian Hockey League team. Last year, Shawn Lalonde, Mike Murphy, and Stephen Johnston were all taken in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
