Subban named CHL Goaltender of the Week

TORONTO, ON - The Canadian Hockey League announced Tuesday that Bulls goaltender Malcolm Subban has been named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week from February 18-24 after he went 3-0 with victories over Barrie, Peterborough and Ottawa.

Subban helped propel the Bulls into an Eastern Conference lead this past week, turning aside 29 shots in a 3-0 shutout victory over the second placed Barrie Colts on Monday afternoon. The Boston Bruins first round draft pick continued his stellar week with a Saturday night 5-2 win over the Peterborough Petes as he made 36 saves. Subban and the Bulls wrapped up the week on Sunday at Scotiabank Place as Malcolm made 34 saves in a 6-3 win over the Ottawa 67's.

Subban went 3-0-0-0 with a 1.67 goals against average and a .952 save percentage to be named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for a fourth time in his OHL career. He his last six decisions and has a 6-1-0-0 record with a 2.68 goals against average and a .926 save percentage in the month of February.

Subban has a record of 17-4-1-0 when he has faced thirty shots or more and his fine performances in combination with goaltending partner Charlie Graham have the Bulls with a 15-8-2-1 record this season when being outshot.

The Bulls currently hold a four point lead in the Eastern Conference with a pair of games in hand on second placed Barrie. Belleville hosts the Brampton Battalion on Wednesday night at the Yardmen Arena at 7:05pm. Malcolm and the Bulls will visit the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night before returning home to battle the Niagara IceDogs on Saturday.
