P.K. Subban Invited to Canadian National Junior Team Development Camp

Belleville Bulls defenceman P.K. Subban is one of 45 players who have been invited to the Canadian National Junior Team Development Camp being held July 25-29 in Ottawa. The summer camp is the first step in evaluating potential players for the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship which will also take place in Ottawa December 26, 2008- January 5, 2009.

Subban is one of ten players invited to the camp that helped Canada win a gold medal at the 2008 World Junior Hockey Championship this past season in the Czech Republic. Players were invited to the camp based on their performance during the 2007-2008 season along with their play in other international tournaments.

Subban is looking to build upon a strong third season with the Bulls in which he helped Belleville reach the Memorial Cup for the second time in franchise history. During the 2007-2008 campaign, Subban led all Bulls defenders in scoring for the second consecutive season, recording eight goals and 39 assists in 58 games played. He then led all OHL defenders in scoring during the playoffs with eight goals and 23 points in 21 games played, as he became the Bulls all-time leading defencemen scorer in the postseason. The Rexdale, Ontario native also represented Belleville at the 2007 ADT Canada Russia Challenge and the 2008 OHL All-Star Classic last season. Subban was selected in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens following his sophomore season with the Bulls.
