Alumni Watch: Marc Rancourt Named Atlantic University Sport Player of the Week

Former Belleville Bulls Captain Marc Rancourt has been named the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Player of the Week. Rancourt is playing for the St. Mary's University Huskies and has become one of the most feared scorers in all of Canadian University hockey. He recorded five points in two Huskies victories last week to earn the award.

Rancourt currently sits second in the entire nation in scoring with 14 goals and 47 points in just 24 games played, as he has helped the Huskies to an impressive 18-5-1 record and the number three ranking in Canada. This is Rancourt’s third year at St. Mary’s after graduating from the Bulls in 2005. Rancourt is not the only former Bull enjoying scoring success in the CIS this season, as both Brock McPherson and Cody Thornton rank in the top fifteen in scoring.

Rancourt played for the Bulls from 2001 through 2005 and led the team in scoring during his final two seasons in Belleville. In 253 games with the Bulls, he scored 57 goals and added 119 assists along with 106 penalty minutes. The Gloucester, Ontario native ranks eighth all-time in career games played with the Bulls. His best season in Belleville came during his overage campaign in 2004-2005 when he led the Bulls with 26 goals and 52 assists in 68 games earning the Dan Foster Award as Team MVP in the process.
