Matthias Called Up to the Florida Panthers
Bulls’ leading scoring Shawn Matthias has been called up to the Florida Panthers and is expected make his NHL debut Friday night in New Jersey against the Devils. Panthers General Manager and Head Coach Jacques Martin called up Matthias following a number of injuries to Florida players. The Mississauga, Ontario native signed an entry level contract with the Panthers in December. Matthias will become the 52nd player in Bulls history to play in the NHL.

The call-up is another accomplishment in what has been a terrific season to date for Matthias. In 32 games with Belleville this season, Matthias has recorded 21 goals while adding 37 assists and 31 penalty minutes. Earlier this month, he won a gold medal with Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships where he recorded three goals and five points in seven games.
