Matt Beleskey Named OHL Player of the Week

 

 

Belleville Bulls Captain Matt Beleskey was named the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the second time in the playoffs. Beleskey scored three goals and added five assists in three games during the week of May 5-11 to earn the honour.

Beleskey began the week on Tuesday when he scored game winning goal in overtime and added three assists, as he was named the game’s first star in a 5-4 victory over the Kitchener Rangers. He then assisted on the winning goal in a 2-1 Bulls victory in Kitchener two nights later. The Midhurst, Ontario native then rounded out the week with another first star performance, scoring twice, including the game winning goal and adding an assist in Belleville’s 6-3 game six victory.

Beleskey finished the week leading the Bulls and sitting tied for second in league playoff scoring with 12 goals and 33 points in 20 games. He also extended his league high playoff point streak to 19 games during the week. In 62 regular season games this season, Beleskey scored 41 goals and added 49 assists.
