Geoff Killing Breaks Bulls All-Time Games Played Record

One of the Belleville Bulls longest standing records was broken this weekend when Geoff Killing surpassed Dunc MacIntyre to become the Bulls all-time regular season games played leader. Killing broke the record Friday night in London when he played in his 268th regular season game with the Bulls. The record of 267 games played held by MacIntyre had stood since 1985. Prior to Saturday’s game against the Sudbury Wolves, MacIntyre was on hand to help honour Killing’s achievement in a pre-game ceremony.

Killing joined the Bulls partway through the 2003-2004 season after he had been selected by Belleville in the fifth round of the 2003 OHL Priority Selection. Killing played 29 games with the Bulls in his rookie season, recording two assists and impressing many with his solid defensive play, as he led the team with a +1 rating. The following season, Killing played 63 games and scored his first career OHL goal. He also led all Bulls defencemen in playoff scoring with three assists in four games.

The Embro, Ontario native played 67 games with the Bulls during the 2005-2006 season, recording a career high two goals and six points. Last season, he played a key role in helping Belleville win an East Division Championship and reach the Eastern Conference Championship, as he recorded ten points in 59 games played.

In 51 games played with the Bulls this season, Killing has scored once and added five assists. He also leads the team with an impressive +27 rating. In 269 career games, Killing has scored five goals and 23 assists while adding 228 penalty minutes. He has also recorded one goal and eight points in 25 career playoff games. The overage defender is a three time winner of the Peggy Burris Award as the Bulls Top Scholastic Player while also winning the ‘Unsung Hero’ Award for the 2006-2007 season.
