Bulls Raise Money for Donati Points for Cancer Fund
Prior to the Belleville Bulls game against the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday night, a special on-ice presentation was held to update the progress of the Donati Points for Cancer Fund. The Donati Points for Cancer Fund was started in 2005 by Bulls forward Tyler Donati and his twin brother Justin in conjunction with their OHL team at that time, the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors after their mother Corinne was diagnosed with cancer. On Saturday, it was announced that to date, $3,552.52 had been raised by the fund through various channels and that this number would continue to grow throughout the remainder of the regular season and playoffs. Both Tyler and Justin along with their father Tony were on hand for the presentation.
The Bulls announced shortly after acquiring Tyler during the off-season that they would continue the Donati Points for Cancer program in Belleville which raises money for cancer research at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. To date, Tyler has scored 129 points with the Bulls this season raising $1,290 for the fund. Bulls’ ownership also announced on Saturday that they will match this amount after Tyler’s points in the remainder of the regular season and playoffs have been included.
There have also been other significant donations to the fund throughout the year including an autographed hat auction in which items were donated by Ken Morton of Deerhaven Farm & Garden and raised nearly $500. Larissa and Landry Jensen, two local students have also been diligently collecting donations for the fund at every Bulls home game and have raised over $600 to date.
The Belleville Bulls organization would like to thank everybody in the Quinte community that has helped raise money for this worthy cause.
