Shawn Lalonde and Stephen Johnston on NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term List
Belleville Bulls Shawn Lalonde and Stephen Johnston were among those who ranked by NHL Central Scouting in their annual mid-term report released on Wednesday. Lalonde was ranked as the 49th best North American skater for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft while Johnston was 186th. Lalonde has previously been ranked as the 20th best OHL prospect in Central Scouting’s preliminary rankings. The mid-season ranking includes the top 210 skaters and 30 goaltenders in North America along with the top 170 skaters and 15 goaltenders from Europe. The 2008 NHL Entry Draft will be held June 21-22 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Lalonde is in his second season with the Bulls and is enjoying a strong sophomore campaign. In 37 games with Belleville this season, Lalonde has recorded five goals while adding 12 assists and 37 penalty minutes. He also has an impressive plus 17 rating. The native of Orleans, Ontario was the Bulls first round selection in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection and enjoyed an excellent rookie season last year recording 26 points in 58 games. This past summer, Lalonde represented Canada at the Under 18 2007 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament held in the Czech Republic and Slovakia where he finished with four point in four games. He also participated in the ADT Canada Russia Challenge this past November in Sudbury. |

Johnston is in his rookie season with the Bulls and has four assists in 35 games this season. A former sixth round pick of Belleville in 2006, Johnston impressed many during training camp and led the team in preseason scoring. The Guelph, Ontario native was not ranked by Central Scouting in their preliminary report.
