Bulls Lose to Kingston in Napanee

Keaton Turkiewicz scored twice in a 7-3 loss to the Kingston Frontenacs Thursday night in Napanee.

The Belleville Bulls remained winless in five preseason games on Thursday night, dropping a 7-3 decision to the Kingston Frontenacs at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee. The depleted Bulls side which dressed just twelve skaters and two goaltenders were unable to keep up with Kingston, as the Frontenacs scored four of the final five goals in the victory.

Kingston led 2-0 after the first period and 4-2 after two periods of play. The Bulls were able to cut the Frontenacs lead to a single goal twice but were unable to even get on level ground with their East Division rival.

The Bulls were led offensively by Keaton Turkiewicz who scored twice in the loss while defenceman Paul Cianfrini scored the opening Belleville goal early in the second period on a goal mouth scramble. Cory Tanaka had two assists in the loss while Stephen Johnston, Darcy Rees, and Matthew Tipoff each had an assist. The assist extended Johnston’s point streak to five games. Kyle Paige and Kyle Bochek each scored twice for Kingston while single goals went to Matthew Kang, Bobby Mignardi, and Cole Weedmark. Mike Murphy and Jason Guy played goal for their respective sides in the game.

The loss drops the Bulls preseason record to 0-3-2 while Kingston improves to 2-0-3 with the win. Belleville will look to wrap up the preseason schedule on a winning note on Saturday night when they play host to the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors. Game time is 7:15pm at the Yardmen Arena and tickets are available at the Bulls Box Office.
